Plug in a second device and both are assigned the system driver, not ours, and both get COM9. The file hidclass.sys is missing. Might end up doing a complete W7 reload. I pulled my laptop battery out while my laptop was on and that did the trick. Copied missing file from another HP win10 to C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\ This solved my problem after updating the driver using Browse my computer for driver software from the Driver directory.
