HomeGroup is a network sharing feature that has been part of Windows for a long time, and it's also part of Windows 10. Now the folder will be accessible by anyone joined in the HomeGroup when they browse the Documents folder. Changed this to the second option of "Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers", then logged-out and back in which appeared to have fixed the problem. his comment is here I presume this causes Windows8 to send the credentials to the NAS in the same manner it would send to another Windows machine...
