I'd be suspicious of the jack and plug as well. Two things I missed to check first. (1) The "Speakers" need to be set as the Default Audio Playback device.

A low chance its a hardware problem with the RealTek hardware on the motherboard. Computer/Tablet Start getting familiar with sound card drivers and system sound settings. If you’re using a Windows system, doing a simple Windows Update may do the trick.
